Step 1: Connect the camera to the base

Connect the HDMI Port

Identify the Camera and its USB connector.

Connect the Camera USB to the base through the USB-1 input.

Place the camera on your TV, or wherever you'd like it situated.

Use the clamp under the camera to secure it into place.

Make sure to open the privacy shutter.

Step 2: Connect to the TV

Connect the USB Port

Connect the Base box to your TV through the HDMI input.

Plug one end of the HDMI cord into the Base, and the other into your TV.

The HDMI port looks like this and is usually on the back of the TV:

If you have trouble reaching the back of the TV, you may want to ask a family member or friend for help.

Step 3: Connect to power

Scan the QR Code

Connect the Spark Base to power by plugging it in.

If you have not turned on your TV yet, please turn it on.

Switch the TV to the HDMI port that the Spark is connected to. This is usually done with the "Source" or "Input" button on your remote.

Now you should see a screen asking you to scan our QR code. Note it may take a few seconds for the HDMI to switch over.

Step 4: Install the ONSCREEN Mobile App

Download the ONSCREEN app to your smartphone using the links below.

Then follow the steps below to finish installing your Spark.

  1. Once you open the app, click "Sign Up" and simply enter your Name, Email and Phone Number to create your account.

  2. On the next screen, you will see these options:

IMPORTANT: If you're choosing to set up the Spark for a senior, select "Set up as a Caregiver for a senior".

Otherwise, please select "Set up ONSCREEN Spark for yourself" and continue with this article.

  3. Next, the app will detect your Wifi, and ask you for your password. Please enter the wifi password here -- take your time and make sure there are no typos, this is very important. Don't worry, we never send this information anywhere, we only use it to generate the QR code.

  4. Once that's done, you will see a flashing QR code. Hold the QR in front of the camera, about 10-12 inches away. Hold your phone steady and be patient, this might take a few seconds.

    1. If you're having a hard time with this, please try lowering the brightness on your phone's screen.

  5. Once the Spark "reads" the QR code, it will connect to your Wifi network. Your Mobile App will update to let you know it's connected.

  6. Then follow the instructions on your screen to give the app the required permissions. Once all the permissions are done, the setup is complete. At this point, make sure the Spark has fully completed updating.

Step 5 (Important): System Update

Once you've configured the device using the QR Code, the system may update, which could take 30-45 minutes to complete. You may need to do the QR code step again. If you do, simply click the "Spark" button on the ONSCREEN Mobile App to configure the QR code again.

Congratulations! The hardware setup is now complete.
