ONSCREEN allows you to start and join Zoom meetings directly from your TV. To accomplish a portion of these tasks, a user must be logged in (authenticated) into their Zoom account. This is done through our Zoom app integration.

Joining Meetings

Joining most Zoom meetings which don't require authentication can be done without having and logging into a Zoom account. You will simply join most meetings through your name and email that's connected to your ONSCREEN account, and the Meeting Code and Password of that meeting. Please see this article to learn more about Joining a meeting.

Starting Meetings

As of Spring 2022, you will need the ONSCREEN Zoom OAuth Integration to be able to start meetings. This means that you will be logging in directly into your Zoom account, and then giving ONSCREEN permission to start meetings on your behalf.

Allowing the Zoom OAuth Permissions

Here's a video that shows how to install the Zoom integration:

The step-by-step flow for this is simple:

  1. Open the ONSCREEN mobile app.

  2. Click on the Zoom tab at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Click "Login to Start a Meeting".

  4. At this point, a window will open which will ask you for your Zoom email and password. You can safely enter this information here because this is a screen directly from the Zoom website.

  5. Once you enter the correct email and password to your Zoom account, you will be prompted to install and give permission to the ONSCREEN Zoom App. Simply click Authorize and allow all of the requested permissions.

  6. When the process is complete, the pop-up window will close and the ONSCREEN app will refresh. You are now authenticated into your Zoom account and can start meetings.

  7. Now, just click the Start Meeting button.

You are now all set with the new ONSCREEN Zoom OAuth integration, and you have a more secure way of starting your Zoom meetings.

Details about why we need the requested Scopes:

  • View and manage your meetings - When you select "Start a Meeting" we need to create a meeting on Zoom for you. Setting up meetings generates a meeting and then we would read the meeting id Zoom created.

  • View and manage your user information - We need this access for meeting management, like reading your display name and some preferences.

  • View user’s zak token - To start your meetings, Zoom generates a security token we need to fetch and use on your behalf.

Uninstallation

To remove ONSCREEN's access to your Zoom account, all you have to do is log out of your ONSCREEN account. To do this, just go to the Profile Tab and click "Log Out.

Troubleshooting

I can't log in to my account

If you're having trouble logging in to Zoom, double-check your email and password for your Zoom account (not your ONSCREEN account). You can try to reset your Zoom password by going to this webpage.

I don't see Join or Start Meeting on the Zoom Tab

This is most likely because you don't have an ONSCREEN device. Check the screen for the message "Zoom requires using an ONSCREEN device." If you see this message, you can purchase an ONSCREEN device by going to https://onscreeninc.com.
