Routines allow you to set up reminders, AI Companion check-ins, Video Check-ins and more.

This guide will help you create and manage routines using the ONSCREEN Mobile App, ensuring your loved one stays engaged and well cared for through reminders, AI Companion check-ins, and video check-ins.


Getting Started with Routines

  1. Access the Routines Tab

    • Open the ONSCREEN Mobile App.

    • Navigate to the "Routines" tab at the bottom of the screen. Here, you'll find a list of existing routines and the option to create new ones.


Creating a New Routine

  1. Tap the Plus Icon

    • On the "Routines" screen, tap the blue plus icon (+) at the top right to add a new routine.

  2. Choose a Routine Type

    • You will be presented with three options:

      • Reminder: Create a text-based reminder that will display on your loved one's TV.

      • Companion Check-In: Set up a check-in with Joy, the AI companion.

      • Video Check-In: Schedule a video check-in where your loved one can record and send a video message.


Setting Up a Reminder

  1. Select 'Reminder'

    • Tap on the "Reminder" option.

  2. Enter Reminder Details

    • Reminder Message: Type the message that will be displayed on the TV.

    • From (optional): Enter your name or a specific sender’s name.

    • Duration: Set how long the reminder will be displayed on the screen, using the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons.

  3. Set the Schedule

    • Select the days of the week and the time you want the reminder to appear.

    • To have the routine run every day, tap the "Daily" link to select all the days easily.

    • Tap "Save" to finalize the routine.


Setting Up a Companion Check-In

  • Select 'Companion Check-In'

    • Tap on the "Companion Check-In" option.

  • Choose a Check-In Type

    • General Friendly Visit: A casual check-in focused on providing friendly conversation and company. The goal is to brighten the user's day with engaging and light-hearted discussions. This visit is purely social with no specific health or safety focus.

    • General Wellness Check: A routine visit designed to assess the user's overall health, emotional state, and living conditions. The companion inquires about any health issues, discomfort, or necessary household maintenance, ensuring the user's well-being and comfort.

    • Medication Check: A prompt to ensure the user has taken their prescribed medication on time. The companion asks about any issues with the medication, such as side effects or whether it's helping, and provides reminders if necessary.

    • Pain and Happiness Check: A focused check on both physical pain levels and emotional well-being. The companion asks the user to rate their pain and happiness on a scale of 1-10, showing empathy based on their responses.

    • Meal Check: A check to confirm whether the user has eaten their most recent meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). The companion collects details on what was eaten or any reasons for missing the meal, and ensures the user is maintaining a healthy eating schedule.

    • Hydration Check: A reminder to ensure the user has been drinking enough water throughout the day. The companion asks if the user has stayed hydrated and collects details such as the number of glasses consumed.

    • Physical Activity Check: A prompt to remind the user to engage in physical activity. The companion inquires about any exercise or movement completed and encourages the user to stay active for their physical well-being.

    • Sleep Quality Check: A check to assess the quality and duration of the user's sleep. The companion asks how well the user slept the previous night, using a scale of 1-10, and gathers any additional details about their rest.

    • Hygiene Check: A gentle reminder to maintain good personal hygiene. The companion checks if the user has completed tasks like brushing their teeth or washing, emphasizing the importance of staying clean.

    • Safety Check: A check to ensure the user's living environment is secure. The companion asks if appliances have been turned off and if doors are locked, collecting responses to promote a safe home environment.

    • Daily Joke: A light-hearted visit focused on lifting the user's spirits with a new, unique joke. The companion tells a joke and offers the user the chance to hear more, creating a fun and engaging moment.

    • Memory Lane: A visit designed to evoke positive memories by asking the user to share stories from their past. The companion gently prompts the user to reminisce about favorite moments, creating a nostalgic and meaningful conversation.

    • Brain Teaser: An interactive session to engage the user's mind with a fun brain teaser or puzzle. The companion shares a new challenge and encourages the user to think critically while providing feedback on their answers.

    • Trivia Game: A fun, knowledge-testing game where the companion asks trivia questions and keeps score. The session is designed to be entertaining and mentally stimulating, with the companion encouraging the user to play multiple rounds.

    • Create a Painting: An interactive session where the companion helps the user generate a unique painting. The companion guides the user through the creative process, resulting in a personalized artwork experience.

  • Set the Schedule

    • Select the days of the week and time for the check-in.

    • Tap "Save" to finalize the routine.


Setting Up a Video Check-In

  1. Select 'Video Check-In'

    • Tap on the "Video Check-In" option.

  2. Customize the Video Check-In

    • Custom Message (optional): Enter a message that will be shown before the recording starts as a prompt to the older loved one.

    • Recording Duration: Set how long the video recording will last.

    • Countdown Duration: Adjust the countdown before the recording begins, giving your loved one time to prepare.

  3. Set the Schedule

    • Select the days and time for the check-in.

    • Tap "Save" to finalize the routine.


Managing Existing Routines

  1. Pause or Delete a Routine

    • On the "Routines" screen, find the routine you want to manage.

    • To pause, tap the pause icon (||). To delete, tap the trash can icon.

  2. Edit a Routine

    • To make changes to an existing routine, tap the pencil icon next to the routine. This will allow you to modify the message, schedule, or type of routine.
